March 15, a birthday...

Just a nine-patch...
but...
I'm thinking of a young mother back in 1959, about to give birth to her fourth child. She has heard a new idea, that fathers could be at the birth and bond with their babies from the first moments of life, and she wants to do that. But she is told that that cannot happen in a hospital in 1959. So she looks and looks until she finds a doctor who will deliver the baby at home so her husband can be there and then, oh radical thought, she wants to breastfeed as well! Her friends thought she was crazy, but this brave young mother digs in her heels and decides to go ahead. They found a doctor who agreed to bring his nurse and come to the house for the delivery. And so, on March 15, my husband was born at home, with his dad in the room and his siblings waiting outside with grandma.
Thanks, Vivian, for your sweet boy. I cherish him!
